Traditions

For the curious visitor it will be a pleasure to dive into the traditions of Somiedo, often explained by the inhabitants of the territory, who are the real protagonists and responsible for the fact that most of them have remained until today. From the work of weaving, the cutting of brooms with waning moon, the placement of the “escaladas”, the work of the slaughter, the filandones, the amagüestos, the “estaferias”, or the bowering of fountains on the night of San Juan, to the most primitive and already disappeared of which we can find testimony in the Ecomuseum, or in the abundant literature and existing oral tradition.
