Herds of wolves, chamois, roe deer, deer, or species as elusive as the wild cat populate the entire territory. Birds in danger of extinction such as the capercaillie, or as mythical as the golden eagle or the vulture, which dominate the skies from where they hunt small species. Woodpeckers among which the black woodpecker stands out, with its constant work, put the rhythm to the quiet walks through the forest. The Iberian desman has one of its last refuges in the headwaters of crystal clear rivers, such as the Pigüeña. And beetles as beautiful as the alpine Rosalia alpina take advantage of the trunks of the beech trees that populate the park to lay their eggs.
