Sousas
The simplest typology
The “corros” that form this braña are stone huts of circular shape, topped in a false lobe with flat and large stones (“l.lávanas”), or sometimes with pieces of topsoil (“tapines”), with insulating and waterproofing function. They are the simplest type of braña. Of small size, and with a tiny window and a small entrance door, they used to be grouped in pairs, one corro corresponding to the brañeiro and the other to the cattle.
The braña is located at the bottom of a glacial cirque, surrounded by a moraine. On the route from the Val.le/Valle del Lago, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the beech forests of El Coutu and El Val.le, the viewpoint of El Castiel.lu, or Pena Chana and the Altu’l Muñón.
