1-“Ports of Somiedo”: Port of Somiedo

The ascent to the Somiedo pass, starting in La Pola Somiedo (715 m) and ending in the emblematic village of Santa María del Puerto, or El Puertu (1,486 m), border with León and Exemplary Village of Asturias in 2021, offers a spectacular route that includes passing through the villages of Gúa and Caunéu and the view of El Ḷḷamardal and La Peral.

It is a climb of 12 km in length with very constant slope percentages, around 6.5%, and with the asphalt in good condition, which will make us enjoy this climb that without being excessively hard will mark us for its landscapes.

The most demanding part of the route is faced in the initial kilometers, with ramps that reach 9% slope in sections characterized by the closed valley and the dense vegetation, while as we ascend the slope percentages are softened and the valley opens up, which causes the panoramic views, especially from its horseshoe curves, making this climb really entertaining and colorful.
