According to the Comprehensive Management Instrument of the Somiedo Natural Park (IGI), rock climbing, whether sport or alpine, is a permitted activity in designated areas and on established routes within General Use Zones, Agricultural Use Zones, and High Mountain Zones. Specifically, there is an authorized climbing area in the Valle de Lago region known as the 'Pena Blanca' sector.
