In addition to being part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, the Natural Park is classified as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) within the Natura 2000 Network, the Union’s network of natural areas European European Union forto biodiversity conservation. The Natura 2000 Network has the following objectives The objective is to ensure the conservation and long-term survival of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora in the territory of the European Union, contributing to halt the loss of biodiversity and to sustain human life and its activities.
